Sconce mounting height is a personal preference usually based on proportions of the space, style of sconce and keeping the following in mind. Don’t mount them so high or low that you can see the lamp if the shade or glass was intended to conceal it. Buy the sconces and have someone hold them up to see what you think looks best or make a cardboard cutout.
